JMS© Estimating (EST) provides advanced estimating capability for EPC and EPCM projects. EST is especially suitable for international projects dealing with large number of packages, multiple currencies and multi-funding sources. On site, it can be used for the preparation of change orders and as a powerful tool to perform cost analysis of estimates prepared by sub-contractors.

Unlike conventional estimating system which finality is only to produce estimating reports as an estimator perspective, data generated by EST is specially structured so it can be automatically transferred in a matter of second to other modules of JMS© such as CCS (Capital Control) CMS (Contract Management) CPS (Construction Management) etc so data can be immediately used for management, planning, controls and project execution.

EST contains several unique features such as multi-user capability allowing Management to monitor on line the progress of the preparation of an estimate while several estimators work on the same estimate.

Summary estimate information in graphical format can be displayed for quick analysis allowing drill down capability at level of estimating account.

The multi package capability is a unique feature that allows to change the packaging strategy of the project without altering the integrity of the budget estimate file. This process is carried out during the planning phase in order to establish the project best strategy and during the execution phase to reflect packaging changes. Such feature allows to produce very quickly detail budget estimate for all Project’s Purchase Orders and Contracts while maintaining cost information perfectly synchronized with the Budget. This is accomplished automatically without any manual data entry.

The Pareto analysis, a powerful feature of EST, will help to focus on where the money is, by avoiding to spend valuable estimating man-hours to generate unnecessary estimating detail representing only small percentage of the estimate cost.

On line cost distribution (by discipline)

EST contains a large library of ready to use reports utilized in a variety of international jobs from conceptual or bankable stage to full EPC / EPCM projects. Such feature allows focusing on cost estimate analysis with no time wasted in formatting reports. In addition, all the power of Microsoft Access is immediately available to advanced users for sophisticated data manipulation and for producing haddock reports. The module supports two basic estimating scenarios.

The first scenario addresses EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) estimates. It uses standard unit price estimate such as the CSI code, where each estimate standard contains up to five user defined cost elements for instance labor, equipment usage, material, sub-contract, indirect. The second scenario allows to build estimate standards from ground up using basic commodities, crew, crew-mix where each crew can be composed of resources such as labor equipment usage, material etc.
